- P&L Protection: Implement financial controls and governance protocols over major project execution to actively protect committed margins and recover costs associated with unforeseen events.
- Ensures the project is constructed as per design, budget, resources, quality and schedule.
- Contractual Risk Mitigation: Manage all contractual obligations related to GC/PM requirements, especially concerning third-party product integration (e.g., specialized doors, trading desks, imports), ensuring full compliance and minimizing financial risk exposure.
- National Cost Standardization: Develop, maintain, and regularly update a national installation and labour rate guide by region to ensure accurate, profitable, and consistent pricing across all Canadian pursuits.
- Identifies and manages risk and opportunities on large furniture construction projects.
- RFP & Pursuit Vetting: Engage directly with Sales on major project pursuits and RFP responses to provide expert guidance on price impact, project complexity, and execution viability.
- Profit-Driven Planning: Review and analyse the complete delivery and installation plan and pricing prior to RFP submission, offering data-driven guidance on product selection, logistical planning, and installation cost guidance.
- Construction Intelligence: Provide site and construction intelligence during the bid phase to inform realistic timelines and resource allocation, preventing scope surprises post-award.
- Margin Expansion Post-Award: Immediately following project award, engage directly with the client, General Contractor (GC), and Architectural/Design (A&D) teams to solidify final product and project costing details. This stage is critical for maximizing share of wallet and identifying margin expansion opportunities.
- Keeps all parties informed of potential opportunities, challenges and manages stakeholders' expectations through appropriate forms of communication
- GC Relationship Development: Cultivate strong, active, and long-term relationships with GC Project Managers and other key project influencers through consistent, high-level site and project participation.
- Understands client drivers and offers value engineering proposals for functionality, cost and schedule benefit
- Deficiency Governance: Partner with the PM team and Sales to develop and enforce rigorous deficiency walkthrough protocols, ensuring minimal return trips and achieving one-visit project sign-off to maximize labour efficiency.
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and performance-manage the Project Manager team, shifting their focus from purely troubleshooting to strategic client-facing advocacy and cost control.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in Project/Account Management, Execution, within the contract interiors or related high-value specialty manufacturing sector.
- Demonstrated financial acumen and a proven track record of directly impacting project profitability through process improvement and risk mitigation.
- Expertise in RFP analysis, contract review, and managing complex third-party vendor integrations within large-scale projects.
- Leadership acumen, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional Executive stakeholders and build rapport with General Contractors, Project Managers and clients.
- Strong planning, organizational and time management skills including the ability to manage project budgets and schedules.
- Ability to identify and manage risk and opportunities on large furniture projects.
- PMP certification preferred.
