- Ensure that every employee is working effectively and efficiently as well as taking advantage of opportunities to develop staff, improving moral and employee relations.
- Ensure smooth operations between all kitchen departments as well as external departments and the kitchen.
- Understands the importance of food cost and menu planning
- Assists in the preparation of menus and new recipes
- Demands quality of product when purchasing items, ensuring high quality product is used.
- Communicates and participates in plate presentation as well as actively communicating new presentation ideas and concepts
- Handles daily staffing requirements and ensures that staffing levels are met while keeping labor cost minimized
- Training, re-training, and motivation of staff, giving feedback (positive or negative) when necessary
- Assists in creating menus in conjunction with the Executive Chef
- Strives to keep food and labor cost within budget
- Ensures that guest complaints and requests are dealt with in a professional and timely manner, always keeping guests’ best interest and happiness as top priority
- Ensure that all the companies’ policies and procedures are followed by staff
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned by management
- Culinary school diploma or other professional culinary certificates
- Minimum 7 years cooking experience
- Minimum 4 years’ experience as a chef
- Previous experience as a Chef is an asset
- Must be able to work different shifts, which may include holidays, evenings and weekends
- Able to legally work in Canada
