
Electromyography Technologist

- Perform various diagnostic tests/techniques to assist physician in detecting disorders of the brain and nervous system.
- Operate electromyographic equipment to conduct electrophysiological tests such as evoked potential, nerve conduction velocity, muscle strength and repetitive stimulation and performs other neurophysiological tests as required.
- Record measurements and formulates technical reports for interpretation by medical staff to assist with clinical diagnosis.
- Guide clinical experience of assigned new staff and students and provide input to supervisor as required.
- Diploma from an accredited program in electroneurophysiology and one (1) year recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Successful writing of the Canadian Board of Registration of Electromyography Technologists of Canada (BRETC), the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine (ABEM) or the American Association of Electrodiagnostic Technologists (AAET) examination.
- Ability to keep abreast of current professional standards and technical knowledge.
- Demonstrated ability to perform duties accurately and maintain quality standards.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate (orally and in writing) and deal effectively with clients and their families, coworkers, physicians, other health care staff, and staff of external agencies.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Demonstrated computer skills with current computer applications.
- General knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths-based care.
- Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.
- Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safe care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.
- Physical ability to perform duties of the position.
