Reporting to the Lead Estimator, you will lead the preparation of electrical and civil estimates for utility projects and support our operations teams throughout the project lifecycle.DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Estimating & Technical Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate electrical and civil quantity take‑offs, cost estimates, and conceptual budgets
- Review drawings/specifications, assess risks, and evaluate cost‑effective construction methods
- Maintain estimating tools and databases (Bid2Win/Accubid) and support purchasing for awarded projects * Tendering, Pricing & Proposal Support- Lead tendering activities, including bid reviews, pricing coordination, and documentation
- Review subcontractor/supplier bids and support negotiations and award recommendations
- Coordinate technical proposal inputs and participate in site visits, tender reviews, and project hand‑offs * Leadership & Team Collaboration- Assign tasks, mentor junior estimators, and manage estimating resources across project types
- Work closely with operations teams to support project planning and execution
- Promote consistent estimating practices and continuous improvement within the team * Client, Supplier & Stakeholder Engagement- Build strong relationships with clients, designers, contractors, and suppliers
- Liaise with engineers and stakeholders to support feasibility studies and scope clarifications
- Represent the company at industry, client, and community events * Additional Responsibilities- Maintain supplier/subcontractor directories and perform other duties as assignedCOMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Degree or Diploma in Construction Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Field experience or Electrical trades background are considered as assets.
  • The following certifications/designations are considered an asset: P.Eng. Designation, Gold Seal Certified (GSC), Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • 10+ years of estimating experience in utility projects.
SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Strong ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and project documents, and perform accurate quantity takeoffs across utilities, earthworks, concrete, and foundations.
  • Solid understanding of civil construction methods, sequencing, production rates, safety considerations, and tendering processes for utility work.
  • Proven ability to assess risks, assumptions, and contingencies within estimates and communicate their impacts clearly to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Bid2Win, Accubid, Procure, MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, Teams), and other industry‑standard estimating tools.
  • Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple bids, coordinate with subcontractors
  • Willing to participate in site visits as required; valid driver's license may be required.
  • This position is currently based in‑office in Leduc, AB. Please note the office is scheduled to relocate to Acheson, AB by year-end.
