Our client, a reputable tax and accounting advisory firm in Calgary, Alberta, is seeking a skilled US Tax Manager/Senior Manager to join their growing team. This firm specializes in providing comprehensive tax services to clients across Canada and the United States, including individuals, trusts, partnerships, and corporations. With a team of experienced CPAs and tax professionals, the firm is committed to delivering expert cross-border tax solutions.About the Opportunity
- Manage the preparation and review of US federal and state tax returns for individuals, corporations, trusts, and partnerships (Forms 1040, 1040NR, 1120, 1120F, 5471, 5472, FBAR FinCen 114, and related schedules)
- Conduct in-depth tax research on US cross-border tax issues and prepare technical memos addressing client-specific tax matters
- Leverage the Canada-US Tax Treaty to determine tax filing positions for clients with cross-border activities
- Communicate with US federal and state tax authorities to address client inquiries, audits, and notices
- Lead and manage client engagements, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and profitability tracking
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, identifying and addressing tax issues related to client operations
- Supervise, mentor, and develop junior team members, providing clear expectations, ongoing feedback, and performance evaluations

- Active US CPA designation is required
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in US tax, with a focus on federal and state tax compliance, advisory, and cross-border taxation
- Proven leadership and team management experience, with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- In-depth knowledge of US federal corporate tax regulations and experience with cross-border tax issues
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple client engagements effectively
