We take great pride in contributing to the communities where we live with an ever-constant eye to the global investment markets.The Senior Data Analyst will be part of the Toronto based Financial System & Workflows Team within the Investment Finance Division, reporting to the Senior Manager, Financial Systems & Workflow. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data analysis, statistical modeling, and a proven track record of delivering actionable insights to drive business decision-making. The Senior Data Analyst will shape the development of the portfolio analytics capabilities for the Investment Finance team. The role will with lead various data analytics initiatives and deliver innovative solutions to Investment Finance and partner divisions. To succeed in this role, the ideal individual needs a strong attention to detail, have experience leading data analysts, and have a proven ability to build relationships between the business groups. A keen desire to explore new technologies and implement innovative solutions will enhance the success of the role.Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop comprehensive dashboards and reporting leveraging Power BI or similar business intelligence tools
  • Work across functional areas to understand and identify reporting objectives to develop relevant reporting capabilities
  • Collaborate with data engineers to ensure the availability and quality of data for analysis
  • Evaluate, analyze, and recommend potential solutions that enhance analytics and reporting
  • Effectively communicate complex analytical findings to non-technical stakeholders, and prepare and deliver comprehensive reports and presentations
  • Evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies for data analysis and be well acquainted with current industry trends and advancements in data analytics
  • Lead data-focused projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of data governance policies and procedures.
  • Lead and mentor the Data Analysts, and provide guidance on best practices, methodologies, and tools for data analysis
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of proven experience as a data analyst in financial management and investment support environment
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or similar discipline
  • Advanced proficiency with Power BI and other data visualization tools
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis tools, such as Alteryx, Python, R or similar
  • Strong SQL skills for data extraction and management, and familiarity with Azure technologies
  • Strong knowledge of statistical methods and data visualization techniques
  • Familiarity with machine learning algorithms and techniques and experience implementing predictive models
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to identify and solve data errors within a data governance framework
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (written and verbal) to effectively convey complex findings and technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team with strong project management skills
  • Ability to maintain an innovative mindset focused on delivering business value in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
