We are WSP.The OpportunityBuild the Future with Us - As an Intermediate Hazardous Materials Technician, you'll take on a more independent role supporting hazardous materials assessments and remediation-related projects. You'll apply your field experience to ensure accurate data collection, strong safety performance, and high-quality deliverables while continuing to grow your technical expertise alongside senior specialists.Your Impact
- Conduct hazardous materials surveys and assessments in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.
- Independently collect samples of asbestos, metals (e.g. lead), PCBs, microbials, and other hazardous substances.
- Contributing to the development of hazardous materials management plans, safe work procedures, abatement specifications, and exposure control plans.
- Conducting hazardous materials condition assessments.
- Conducting hazardous material abatement/remediation inspections and air monitoring.
- Document field observations, measurements, and sampling data with a high level of accuracy.
- Support project planning, site coordination, and scheduling for field activities.
- Apply health, safety, and quality standards to protect workers, occupants, and the environment.
- Prepare, or assist with the preparation of, technical reports, figures, and supporting documentation.
- Collaborate with project managers, technicians, and consultants to deliver projects on time and on budget.
- Diploma or certificate in environmental sciences, occupational health, building sciences, or a related field.
- Typically, 3-7 years of experience in hazardous materials fieldwork or related environmental services.
- Valid WorkSafeBC Level S Asbestos Certificate.
- Formal training on asbestos, metals, PCB, microbials and hazardous substances regulations and sampling methods.
- Fall protection and confined space entry training an asset.
- Experience working safely in active buildings, construction environments, and confined spaces.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple field tasks and priorities.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.

MB & ON: $63,600 - $87,500
