Closing Date: September 24, 2025The UHN Genetics Program specializes in meeting the needs of individuals diagnosed with an inherited condition or those who may be at risk for an inherited condition. The team provides family risk assessment, diagnosis, management and management recommendations, education and support to patients and their families.The Genetics Program is currently seeking to fill a temporary full-time Genetic Counsellor position in the Bhalwani Familial Cancer Clinic.The principal responsibilities include:
- Assessing the unique medical/genetic and psychosocial needs of individuals with and at risk for genetic cancer conditions for the purpose of providing appropriate counselling, education, testing options, and follow-up
- Fostering collaborative relationships with key stakeholders to develop innovative models of genetics care delivery
- Performing administrative responsibilities to ensure the effective management of individual cases, acting as an advocate for patients, performing cross-functional duties, as assigned or requested, including data management and validation
- Performing other duties consistent with the job classification, as required
- Depending on level of experience, participate in supervising genetic counselling students and participate in education of medical students, residents and fellows
- Participate in weekly academic activities including genetics rounds and case review
- Masters degree in Genetic Counselling
- Board Certified or Board Eligible with the ABGC and/or CAGC
- Two years previous experience preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and professionals
- Ability to work independently as well as with a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to adapt to a wide variety of patient populations and needs
- Broad-based knowledge and versatility
- Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance record.
