You will be joining the Wholesale Platform Finance team, which is responsible for our global financial close process, project implementation, and establishes the overall control framework for Capital Markets.If you are proactive, self-motivated, excited about working on a high profile, challenging system/program implementation, and interested in building a career within a world-class financial institution, this is a great opportunity for you.This is a great opportunity for those who are interested in working with internal/external stakeholders on project implementations, including planning and development of test cases, user acceptance testing (UAT), and post implementation verification (PIV) for Capital Markets Finance in support of our growing and evolving business.This role will appeal to individuals who want to work in a fast-paced area that has significant visibility and a high profile across RBC (especially within CM), who have an appetite for working in a forward looking and innovative environment, and who also thrive on challenges, want to over-achieve and make a real difference within Finance and the business.WHAT WILL YOU DO?In this 8-month fixed term contract you will support the Director and Associate Director in executing the strategic direction for large program implementation activities impacting Global Capital Markets for Financial Control. This will include, but is not limited to:
  • Working with relevant project teams and stakeholders in Finance to help plan and perform UAT and PIV for Financial Control related to project implementations
  • Collaborating with Finance counterparts in Financial Control, Product Control, Performance Management, Tax and Enterprise Finance and other impacted stakeholders to execute against plan and help identify, elevate and address key execution risks
  • Effectively assist Financial Control in planning and ongoing discussions related to integration/implementation initiatives.
In relation to specific initiatives, you will support Finance with respect to accounting, financial reporting, and controls and governance, ensuring transactions are accurately and completely captured in RBC financial systems.As a result, you will:
  • Create relationships with the business and other key stakeholders as needed (e.g., Product Control, Performance Management, IT, Risk Management, Accounting Policy, Tax, Capital and other Enterprise Finance partners) when striving to resolve any finance-related implementation issues.
  • Maintain a high standard of partner service quality by taking ownership and accountability of incoming requests, and proactively respond to ad-hoc inquiries and requests related to project implementation.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?Must have:
  • 3+ years of financial institution experience in Finance
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills – ability to work with people at all levels within the organization.
  • Excellent analytical thinking and acute attention to detail.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of financial reporting under IFRS accounting standards and internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Highly motivated, collaborative, and self-starter attitude.
  • Ability to manage numerous priorities simultaneously amidst tight deadlines.
Nice-to-have:
  • CPA designation or equivalent
  • Exposure to Capital Markets businesses
  • Knowledge of RBC financial systems and associated procedures
  • Proficiency with computer applications, such as Excel and PowerPoint.
