- Job Description
- Lead and manage a team of designers specializing in outside fiber plant projects.
- Oversee the design and implementation of aerial and underground fiber projects, ensuring adherence to regional regulatory standards and industry best practices.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary projects within industrial, utility, and municipal sectors
- Maintain good relationships with the clients
- Prepare and manage engineering estimations
- Coordinate closely with major telecommunications service providers and other stakeholders (e.g. Power Utility - Pole colocation/co-use) on project requirements and delivery timelines.
- Be a key contributor on broader fiber-related projects including industrial, municipal, or utility networks.
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and quality assurance for design outputs.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, budgets, and deadlines.
- Profile
- College or Associate degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, Networking, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in outside plant fiber design, including significant experience working with major telecommunications providers.
- Proven experience managing a design team, with strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
- Solid understanding of underground and aerial permitting processes in British Columbia, Alberta, and ideally Ontario.
- Proven experience and knowledge of networking fundamentals and wireless applications.
- Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) designation is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated leadership.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to track financial performance of projects.
- Effective communicator, capable of engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience delivering projects to a high standard, on time and within budget.
- Ability to adapt and respond effectively to evolving client needs and project requirements.
