As a News Photographer, you will be responsible for capturing high-quality images that tell compelling stories and provide visual context to news articles. You will work closely with reporters, editors, and other media professionals to ensure that the visual elements of our news coverage are engaging, accurate, and timely. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a strong sense of composition, and the ability to work under tight deadlines. You should be comfortable working in various environments, from bustling city streets to quiet rural areas, and be prepared to cover a wide range of topics, including breaking news, politics, sports, and human-interest stories. In addition to technical skills, you should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as you will often need to interact with the public, interview subjects, and collaborate with colleagues. ⦁ Follow legal guidelines related to photography and privacy.Who you are:⦁ Proven experience as a news photographer or similar role.
⦁ Strong portfolio showcasing journalistic photography.
⦁ Proficiency with professional photography equipment and software.
⦁ Excellent understanding of composition, lighting, and colour.
⦁ Ability to work under tight deadlines and in fast-paced environments.
⦁ Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
⦁ Flexibility to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends.
⦁ Ability to travel to various locations on short notice.
⦁ Knowledge of current events and news trends.
⦁ Commitment to journalistic integrity and ethical standards.

⦁ Physical stamina to carry and operate heavy equipment.
⦁ Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

⦁ Video editing skillsCompensation: Start Rate is $960.11/weekThis is a unionized position subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement. The starting salary listed in this job posting is based on the Year 1 rate outlined in the collective agreement. Offers will be made based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
