- Manage and complete contaminated sites projects in Atlantic Canada. Projects may include Phase I, II & III ESAs, hydrogeological investigations, soil and groundwater sampling programs, surface water and sediment sampling programs, soil vapour sampling, and contaminated site remediation projects. Additional management responsibilities may apply for projects involving hazardous materials assessments, risk assessments, solid waste management and industrial air quality.
- Prepare and review written reports, compile and revise contracts and other supporting documentation.
- Prepare and manage health and safety plans for field projects, coordinate field programs, prepare project contracts and agreements, and complete sub-contractor selection. Coordinate, manage and build business relationships with clients, regulators, service providers (e.g., laboratories, sub-contractor) and third-party stakeholders.
- Understand environmental regulations related to contaminated sites work in various locations (e.g., Federal Lands, adjacent provinces or territories).
- Respond to Requests for Proposal related to contaminated sites work and develop strong client relationships
- Coordinate, manage and build business relationships with: clients, regulators, service providers (e.g., laboratories, sub-contractor) and third-party stakeholders
- Lead in the development and enhancement of relationships with existing clients
- Lead in the identification and development of new business opportunities with both private and public sector clients
- A commitment to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development
- Input to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoring
- Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees
- A degree in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Geology or a related environmental field.
- Designation (P.Eng/P.Geo) will be an asset.
- Experience in environmental consulting or related industrial experience as an environmental professional and project manager.
- Knowledge of applicable environmental regulations.
- Valid drivers License.
- Management of multiple simultaneous environmental projects in remote and urban locations
- Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication, and organizational skills
- Technical proficiency in several of geology, hydrogeology, field procedures, environmental chemistry, contracting/construction, geotechnical concerns, environmental and remediation engineering, site characterization, waste management, landfill monitoring, and health and safety.
- Committed to a culture of quality including a keen attention to detail
- Demonstrated capabilities in multidisciplinary teamwork as well as the ability to work independently.
- Exceptional problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Experience working around heavy equipment, including drill rigs and excavators
- Ground disturbance training would be considered an asset
- Strong background in several of collection and analysis of field data, environmental site assessments, chemistry, geotechnical concerns, geology, hydrogeology, remediation engineering, site characterization, environmental management, health and safety
- In-depth knowledge of relevant provincial and federal environmental legislation and policies
- Ability to organize, prioritize and plan work to meet time-based deliverables and adapt to changing expectations
- Proficiency in proposal and report writing, presentations, communications, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office family of products
- Proficiency in several of: CAD, GIS, Surfer, GINT, ES-Dat or database abilities will be an asset
