You'll find career opportunities that live up to your ambitions and be able to further develop your unique set of skills.So, if you're looking to do what you love, we could be a perfect match.Your roleSet expectations for team performance (good judgment in grey areas; common sense, customer service as “the face of Rona Canada,” data entry and transportation documentation accuracy, leadership, initiative, quick decision-making, team player, ask questions and reach out to peers in network, driven)Train, mentor, and support Transportation Coordinators and Transportation team members; create training guides as neededAct as back up to the Transportation ManagerAdhere to safety policies and procedures (cleanliness and orderliness, trailer integrity, load quality, job safety analysis to identify risks)Work as the Rona's Canada regional subject matter expert for all matters dealing with transportation initiatives or questions as requiredAssist in hiring employees capable of working in a team and multitasking in a fast-paced environmentCost recognition and containment: Monitor overall freight costs for the RDC and adjust where appropriate; identify transportation savings by researching lane and cost savings; work with operations to maximize cube per trailer to reduce transportation costsEnsure on-time and efficient service to stores (includes follow up action plan for errors made)Ensure outbound loads are being picked up and delivered in timely fashion (includes follow-up as needed)Provide ongoing support to the Operations and Planning teams (yard management, trailer moves, and cube utilization efficiencies)Plan delivery and pickup routes using a TMS for Western CanadaEnhance TMS usage by contributing to the improvement of its quality and processesManage trailer overflow, manage add-ons and prioritize loading scheduleMaintain the delivery schedules in the systemThe qualifications we are looking forCollege education in Transportation or Supply Chain Management (preferred)Experience in transportation and/or supply chain at the supervisor levelOral and written communication skillsProven record for complying with safety requirements and ability to build a culture of safety among subordinates and peersCapacity to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environmentSelf-confidence and decision-making abilitiesFamiliarity with Ministry of Transportation (MTO) regulationsDemonstrated flexibility; ability to readily adapt to change and see change as an opportunityCapacity to use analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve complex problems; creative problem-solving skills; initiativeDemonstrated team-building skills - strong ability to build rapport and trust with othersAbility to resolve conflicts quickly and fairlyProficiency with the Microsoft Office SuiteExperience with spreadsheets, analysis, and the efficient use of database programs efficientlyUnderstanding of various costing/pricing modelsExperience with Transportation Management Systems (an important asset)Good logistical problem-solving skillsKnowledge of Canadian geographyBy joining the RONA family, you'll enjoy many benefits, such as:An inclusive and safe working environmentPromotion of work-life balanceExclusive employee discountsBenefits: insurance (certain conditions apply), annual salary review, etc.Opportunities for advancement within the companyAn employer that's involved in the communityTeamwork and ongoing trainingA comprehensive training program for all new hiresA student incentive programAnd much more!If selected for an interview, please advise our Human Resources team if you require accommodation during the interview and assessment process and we will work with you to meet your accessibility needs.RONA is committed to encouraging diversity and inclusion.
