DescriptionThe University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Rheumatology in partnership with Alberta Health Services, invites applications for a Rheumatologist to be based at the University of Alberta Hospital/Kaye Edmonton Clinic. Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Faculty has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions. The University is currently home to more than 38,000 students with more than 15,000 faculty and staff.The Division of Rheumatology at the University of Alberta is focused on ensuring excellence in clinical practice, research and teaching. It currently provides clinical services to all acute care facilities in Edmonton Zone, and consultative service to Northern Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and the Northwest Territories. The educational program in Rheumatology spans all levels of medical education from medical students through comprehensive fellowship programs with the Rheumatology Residents uniformly achieving a high success rate in national (RCPSC) examinations. The division has a broad research program, with current foci including but limited to lupus, vasculitis, connective tissue disease, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoporosis and medical education.The successful candidate will have an MD degree, or equivalent. The incumbent will be eligible for certification in Rheumatology with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada. As well, they will be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).The successful candidate will primarily hold a clinical role, but is encouraged to and will be provided dedicated time for a unique clinical niche in an area of expertise. The candidate will also be expected to have a role in trainee education.The successful candidate will be expected to apply for a Clinical Academic Colleague Appointment in the Department of Medicine, University of Alberta, which will be considered under a separate process through the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry.Remuneration for this position is based on the Academic Alternative Relationship Plan (AMHSP).
