Data Governance Specialist with strong technical expertise in Informatica and Alation Cloud, with a primary focus on supporting the enterprise migration from On-Prem Informatica capabilities to Informatica Advanced Cloud Services (Client).
This is a solution-focused role responsible for capability assessment, mapping, migration planning, and enabling governance practices within cloud-based environments.Key ResponsibilitiesMigration & Capability Mapping
Lead functional and technical analysis of existing On-Prem Informatica capabilities and map them to equivalent or enhanced functionalities in Informatica Client.
Identify feature gaps, dependencies, and configuration changes required during the transition to cloud-based Informatica services.
Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to define migration priorities, governance impacts, and adoption milestones.
Support the creation of migration documentation, capability comparison matrices, and readiness assessments.
Provide guidance on data governance processes that need refinement or redesign during cloud migration.Data Governance & Tool Utilization
Utilize Alation Cloud to catalog metadata, manage glossaries, enrich lineage, and support governance workflows during and after the migration.
Ensure metadata consistency, proper stewardship ownership, and alignment of data definitions before and after migration.
Support governance controls, quality checks, and catalog updates tied to migrated datasets or pipelines.
Promote best practices for governance, data discoverability, and responsible data usage across the organization.Stakeholder Engagement
Partner with business stewards, technology teams, and project leads to communicate migration impacts and governance requirements.
Provide functional expertise to ensure that cloud capabilities meet compliance, stewardship, and operational governance standards.
Support training, onboarding, and communication efforts related to Client and Alation adoption.Documentation & Reporting
Develop and maintain detailed documentation on governance processes, migration impacts, and tool capability mapping.
Prepare reports and dashboards showing catalog adoption, lineage completeness, and metadata quality progress.
Track and communicate governance maturity improvements enabled by cloud capabilities.Required Skills & Qualifications
Strong functional and technical understanding of Informatica On-Prem tools (Data Quality, Metadata Manager, EDC, etc.) and Informatica Client cloud capabilities.
Demonstrated experience in capability mapping, functional assessment, or migration support from on-prem to cloud.
Hands-on functional knowledge of Alation Cloud for cataloging, metadata management, glossary development, and stewardship workflows.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a solution-oriented mindset.
Knowledge of data governance frameworks, metadata management, data lineage, and data quality concepts.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
