- Collaborate during the early (EPC) stage of the project with Project staff and Contractors to provide comprehensive surveillance and review support for the design, installation, and testing of all plant mechanical equipment, including floating storage facilities.
- Work in conjunction with the Plant Maintenance team and Project Staff during the same period to review and approve maintenance strategies and spare parts requirements in alignment with the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS – SAP).
- Provide support during the commissioning and start-up phase, assisting Project Engineers in implementing prudent procedures for a safe and successful plant start-up.
- Act as the resident subject-matter-expert in the plant for issues related to Mechanical equipment after achieving steady-state operations, particularly:
- Lead diagnostics efforts for rapid recovery during forced outages and instances where equipment is not performing to specifications.
- Lead Root-Cause-Analysis efforts for failures to eradicate root causes.
- Support continuous improvement in maintenance efforts for mechanical equipment through Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Risk Based Inspection (RBI). * Direct and mentor junior engineers to contribute to their professional growth and development.RequirementsRequired Experience:
- Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent. Only candidates with Canadian Professional Engineering registration will be considered.
- Minimum 15 years as Mechanical Engineer, preferably in an LNG Production Facility.
- Comprehensive understanding of mechanical and static equipment and systems such as plant pipeline and piping, buildings structures and supports, foundations and access roads (asphalts, concrete, etc.), Heating, Ventilation and Air conditioning (HVAC)
- Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical testing techniques, both destructive and non-destructive.
- Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical repair procedures, including welding and heat-treatment.
- Advanced working knowledge in at least 80% of the following areas relating to Mechanical equipment and good working knowledge in the remaining:
- Risk based inspection.
- In-Line Inspection (ILI) - Intelligent Pipeline pigging operations and interpretation of results.
- Non-destructive testing techniques and interpretation of results, including Radiography (X-rays), Ultrasound, Magnetic Particle, Eddy Current and Liquid Penetrant.
- Centrifugal compressors
- Electrical motors
- Machinery in cryogenic application
- Machinery Monitoring systems
- Applicable codes such as ISA, API, ISO and NFPA
- Vibration and Noise data acquisition and analysis
- Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA)Additional Requirements:
- Proven leadership skills to lead teams and mentor junior staff.
- A motivated person with a mentoring and coaching approach.
- Energetic in pursuit of continuous improvement processes.
- Experience working with large multi-disciplinary teams and contractors in a multicultural environment is an asset.
- Communication/interpersonal skills – interacting with front-line workers through to management and all hierarchical levels.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure, handle multiple tasks, and change priorities within tight time frames.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Expertise with a variety of computer programs.
- A valid driver’s license and passport.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- This role will be a combination of office and site based.
- The position is based in Squamish, BC (Project Site), with an initial stay period at the Vancouver Office, followed by travel to the Module Fabrication Yards in China and a visit to Houston project office as required.
