- Perform maintenance and repairs of site vehicles, heavy equipment, and powered support equipment.
- Conduct diagnostic tests, problem-solving, and corrective maintenance on land, water, and snow equipment (e.g., trucks, graders, snowmobiles, generators, and more).
- Provide On-the-Job Training (OJT) to new or authorized staff.
- Assist with the operation of snow-clearing equipment and the loading/unloading of aircraft.
- Sample POL products and assist in fuel off-loading operations.
- Document reports and maintain files as per NWS work management systems.
- Travel between adjacent radar sites as required.
- Education: High School education or a combination of education and experience.
- Certificates/Licenses: Qualified Motor Vehicle Mechanic (310S and/or 310T with diesel endorsement). A provincial/territorial certificate of qualification is required. Military QL 5 or Journeyman qualification in heavy equipment or Automotive Technician. Valid driver’s license.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of hands-on field experience, with experience in heavy equipment within the last 10 years.
- Skills: Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize tasks. Skilled in the use of diagnostic equipment and capable of working in remote, cold environments.
- Ability to commit to working rotational shifts on a consistent basis.
- Ability to work effectively in remote northern conditions and live in remote camp environments.
- Experience working in a remote camp setting with limited access to resources is an asset.
