No weekends required.What will be your role?The Home Support Worker at VHA is responsible for providing practical household assistance to people in their homes. In our HSW services you’ll do more than provide services to clients; you’ll build strong, long-lasting relationships, we support clients and staff through client and family centered care, well-connected healthcare teams, and continual improvement support people with low or fixed income who are unable to take care of their home. Our clients consist of adults, seniors, and families facing mental health and physical challenges, who aim to maintain their independence and remain living at home.An HSW is required to perform various household duties including but not limited to housekeeping, laundry, vacuum, cleaning kitchen and bathrooms, making beds. Duties vary from client to client with light housekeeping tasks. This role involves physically demanding tasks that are repetitive in nature, performed daily and across various home settings.What makes VHA’s compensation unique?

Required Qualifications:
  • Experience in providing household management services
  • Possess a compassionate and flexible nature, and a client-centered approach to keeping a safe and clean home for vulnerable populations
  • Interest and willingness to work with a diverse client base who are elderly, families and adults with physical and mental health challenges
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize safety issues and follow safe work practices
  • Must be able to meet the physical demand requirements of the role
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to travel across the City of Toronto
  • Effective verbal and written English language skills
  • Requires good judgment, and ability to provide minor problem solving
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification is a definite asset
  • Ability to speak a second language is a definite asset
