As a member of the interdisciplinary team, the Social Worker provides psychosocial support to patients and families. Responsible for assessment, identification of unmet needs, and care/service planning and implementation for patients, the Social Worker provides services in accordance with the policies of NSH and the regulations, standards of practice, and Code of Ethics of the profession of Social Work.About YouWe would love to hear from you if you have the following:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work required, with two (2) years' experience preferred in Mental Health & Addictions
  • Member of, or eligible for, membership in, the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers
  • Ability to work with patients with a variety of mental health and substance use disorders, diagnosis, and needs
  • Ability to provide a variety of evidence based interventions (CBT, ACT, MI) in group settings for a variety of mental and substance use disorders
  • Ability to work competently with individuals, families, and community groups/agencies
  • Flexibility in utilizing professional skill sets in a variety of service delivery models and settings
  • Certification in basic CBT, ACT, MI skills is preferred
  • Ability to work in a self-directed environment and also effectively within an interdisciplinary team
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Commitment to maintain and protect patient, client, and personal safety on an ongoing basis
  • Annually access the training and education on patient, client and personal safety made available by NSH
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
