If so, we have an exciting managerial challenge for you at our Edmonton Ice Cream plant.The Plant Manager oversees and is accountable for the productivity/efficiency of the plant, quality control, maintenance, shipping, engineering, employee and union relations, health and safety, capital equipment planning, cost reduction initiatives, and continuous improvements. More specifically, the incumbent:
  • Oversees the day to day operations of the plant in order to meet key performance indicators (metrics): quality, food safety, health and safety, customer satisfaction, and our financial objectives;
  • Is responsible for daily, weekly, monthly KPI results, as well as communication and education employees;
  • Is responsible for the development and implementation of operational and capital budgets;
  • Develops and fosters plans for the efficient use of materials, machines, and employees;
  • Directs, develops, and implements key projects at the location including new products and/or equipment implementation;
  • Is responsible for reinforcing and promoting an ongoing “change culture” and managing relationships in a progressive employee relations environment;
  • Insures the direct training and development of salaried and hourly personnel to enhance plant performance;
  • Liaises with the government and regulatory agencies;
  • Looks after the security and safety at the plant’s premises;
  • Maintains good communication and good relationships between management, employees, and union representative.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in food science (dairy), engineering, or other relevant fields;
  • Minimum of 10 years as a Production Manager/Production Director in a similar/size plant in the food industry;
  • Solid track record of successful transformation projects (H&S, Quality, Innovation, Productivity, etc.);
  • Expertise in continuous improvement and knowledge of systematic problem-solving processes (Six Sigma, Lean, etc.);
  • Demonstrated leadership and planning skills;
  • Proven track record in improving cost base and plant performance;
  • Aptitude/experience in the financial measurement of plant performance;
  • Result oriented with excellent communication skills
