Join us and help drive innovation and sustainability in our projects.Purpose:The candidate, Electrical Engineer will support the execution of projects and will support the execution of projects in both Terminal Stations and Generation programs at NL Hydro.
  • Take responsibility for the Electrical engineering and design team assigned to and their design output with respect to quality, cost, and schedule requirements for specific projects.
  • Support the Technical Integrity role for the Electrical discipline.
  • Ensure all engineering and design work performed adjusts to quality, cost and schedule requirements.
  • Ensure all design work is safe and carried out in a safe manner.
  • Ensure all design work conforms to the codes and standards used by the client, or to agreed industry standards.
Responsibilities:
  • Must have experience involving Terminal Station projects/equipment up to 230 kV voltage level, including terminal station layout, grounding studies, circuit breakers, disconnects, instrument transformer, power transformers, battery bank and chargers, etc.
  • Prepare and issue tender packages as required using Hydro’s process and procurement documents.
  • Review tenders and award in accordance with Hydro’s requirements
  • Prepare contract documents for any contract work
  • Manage Contracts as required
  • Prepare Work Packages for internal executed work
  • Prepare necessary Commissioning Documents and Energization Plans
  • Complete field visits as necessary for the execution and commissioning phase of the work Ensure any testing results from commissioning are reviewed and accepted.
  • Ensure close out documentation is received from relevant parties.
  • Attend project meetings as required
  • Support the Project Manager in the development and updating of the project schedule and take ownership of the Electrical Engineering assigned activities.
  • Participate in Electrical Engineering Departmental meetings and other as requested meetings
  • Ability to interpret client specifications.
  • Support quality assurance and verification role on engineering deliverables
  • Quality Assurance – Responsible for working, and getting team members working with you, within the provisions and guidelines of the Worley Quality Assurance system
  • Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions.
  • Assist and support junior/intermediate/senior personnel within the Electrical engineering team.
  • Keep up to date with the latest developments and technical innovations in Electrical engineering.
  • Resolves discrepancies between Worley and its Customer's requirements.
  • Ensure the project scope is clear and that changes comply with project change management processes.
  • Participate in the professional development of less experienced members of the department/team.
QualificationsWhat you will bring:Technical and Industry Experience:
  • Relevant experience in design management development and planning
  • Experience in overseeing design/engineering teams.
  • Leadership role supporting multiple small to mid-sized projects
  • Knowledge of Instrumentation would be an asset/preferable.
  • Familiar with digital tools, digitization and data acquisition experience are an asset
  • Working knowledge of Power System software e.g., ETAP will be an asset
  • Team player, with excellent organizational, communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Computer Aided Design software.
  • Basic knowledge of SmartPlant Electrical software.
  • Competent use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite.
Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering.
Required:
  • Proven experience of direct Electrical engineering experience.
  • A member of PEGN.
