- Focusing primarily on designing apparel solutions for our LEAF category, while also contributing to other categories such as equipment and accessories
- Researching and exploring new technologies, manufacturing processes, material and constructions that elevate the user experience
- Designing complete solutions for extreme environments, grounded in science for critical no fail situations
- Creating meaningful relationships with industry professionals to gain valuable insights that solve real problems
- Leading complex and challenging projects, while working closely with cross functional teams
- Developing unique and resolved product solutions through patterning and prototyping, ensuring alignment with Arc'teryx design philosophies
- Supporting in compilation of project scope, activities, and expenditures of projects deemed eligible for submission to funding programs (SR&ED, IRAP, NRC, MITACS, and so forth)
- Contributing to the future of Arc'teryx product circularity initiatives and goals
- Presenting work at internal reviews and annual sales meetings when required
- Partnering with AC Leadership to maintain a robust IP portfolio, proprietary solutions and exclusivity on various materials and technologies
- Coordinating with both our Advanced Concepts Materials and Raw Materials teams to identify the needs for new materials and evaluate fitness for use in specific products
- Attending tradeshows, visiting factories and company events as required
- Working with our cross functional teams to define our future product line and build out a robust roadmap with a focus on innovation
- Collaborating directly with our local ARC' One factory to fast-track new innovations
- Exploring new product categories and opportunities beyond where we are today
- You have a Degree in Design (Apparel, Industrial, etc.) or the equivalent experience, and 8+ years' hands-on experience designing products
- You have advanced knowledge in design, patterning, sewing, manufacturing and garment/equipment construction
- You have previous experience working in the military category related to material test requirements and end use needs
- You are an excellent team player with the ability to take direction, work with minimal supervision and mentor younger Designers/Design Developers
- You have excellent planning, organizational, problem solving and decision-making skills
- You are technically proficient and have experience using the Adobe Suite (3D modelling software experience is a plus)
- You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues, seeking the best (sometimes not the easiest) solutions with an unwavering commitment to do what is right
- You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity
- You effectively balance autonomy and collaboration
