Based on 40 hours per week: $19.94 - $24.26 per hourAdministrative Support 3 (AS3) - Lifeguard (Safety Ambassador) Crew Lead:
$21.95 - $26.81 per hourIn addition to regular wages, regular Wage employees receive 11.2% in lieu of benefits and vacation leave:
- 5.2 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays
- 6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay
- $3.25 per hour for weekends and holidays
- $2.75 per hour for evenings

- Provide safety supervision and education to visitors by monitoring water and waterfront on foot, from elevated platforms and on paddleboards
- Perform water rescues, respond to emergency situations and administer First Aid as required
- Monitor visitor activity within fencelines and washrooms to ensure compliance with conditions of use and safety requirements.
- Provide crowd control when it is necessary to clear the facility as a result of severe weather events, emergencies, locating lost children etc.
- Perform daily opening and closing duties which include but are not limited to setting up and tearing down work areas, securing and cleaning equipment, restocking supplies, clearing the facility of patrons, locking facility gates, shower and bathrooms
- Cover gate and admissions shifts if required
- Performing light maintenance and janitorial duties is required. This includes but is not limited to cleaning staff bathrooms and work areas, sweeping deck areas, picking up garbage and debris on the beach
- Prepare facility for seasonal opening - cleaning and set up of buildings, offices, safety boards, storage/staging areas, assessment and replenishment of equipment (lifejackets, first aid supplies, safety equipment, AEDs, communication equipment etc.), prep and update files, required forms and manuals
- Assist with hiring, set up and conduct seasonal staff orientations, training and competency evaluations
- Manage day to day work flow and priorities
- Daily supervision of Safety Ambassadors in all aspects of job performance and operational requirements including staff scheduling, performance coaching, mentoring and conducting performance reviews and assisting staff with access to required systems
- Provide supervision coverage to Visitor Service Attendants in absence of a Visitor Service Attendant Crew Lead
- Perform required Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) requirements such as completion of facility and vehicle inspections, update safe work procedures, hazard assessments and emergency procedures, staff training, incident reporting, WCB reporting etc
- Assist facility staff with visitor complaint/conflict resolution
- Order, pickup and maintain inventory for required equipment, stock and supplies
- Enter and maintain employee records (training, performance, attendance records, payroll information etc.) into appropriate systems
- Maintain facility statistics and daily reports
- Working weekly scheduled shifts in the Lifeguard rotation is required. Cover breaks and vacant shifts as required when not on rotation.

- High School Diploma
- 12-24 months lifeguarding experience with preference for waterfront lifeguard experience
- Must be 18 years of age on or before June 15
- High School Diploma
- Minimum of 12 months of supervisory experience with preference for supervisory experience in a waterfront environment.
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) lifeguarding experience with preference for waterfront lifeguard experience
- Class 5 (Full) Driver's License
- Must be 18 years of age

- Exceptional communication skills and comfort level in dealing with difficult customer interactions or complaints
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills and comfort dealing with people from diverse backgrounds
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a busy facility type environment and remain composed and calm in stressful or emergency situations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
- Basic knowledge of Fish Creek Provincial Park amenities
- Good listening and conflict resolution skills
- Fluent in languages other than English
- National Lifeguard-Pool or National Lifeguard-Waterfront Certification (current within two years)
- CPR-C/AED or CPR- HCP/AED (current certification within 1 year)
- Standard or Advanced First Aid certification (current within two years)
- Mid June - mandatory site orientation and training
- Late June - mid August to September - scheduled shifts begin late June, various end dates beginning mid August
- Position start dates vary (1 position - late May, 2 positions - Mid June)
- Position end dates vary (1 position - late August, 2 positions - early September)
- You have the opportunity to work up to 40 hours per week and will be paid for the number of hours worked. STAFFING NEEDS ARE IMPACTED BY WEATHER AND LOW VISITOR ATTENDANCE. SCHEDULED HOURS ARE NOT GUARANTEED.
- All positions require you to work various shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Staff must be available to work a minimum of 3 shifts per week and can expect to work at least one weekend and some evening shifts. Shifts could include working up to 10 hours per day. Schedules will be assigned.
