Associate, High Conviction Equities - Healthcare/PharmaThe opportunityBased in our office in Toronto, the Associate will be an integral part of the High Conviction Equities (“HCE”) team and focus on global pharmaceuticals and large-cap biotechnology public equities. The HCE healthcare team is responsible for a highly concentrated portfolio that delivers outsized idiosyncratic returns. The Associate will analyze potential investment opportunities, execute investments, and monitor healthcare companies under coverage.Who you’ll work withHCE’s team in Toronto is comprised of small teams of sector specialists covering healthcare, financials, industrials, consumer, technology and media / telecom. You will primarily work with the healthcare team as a sector specialist. Besides the team in Toronto, you will have the opportunity to work closely with a team of professionals across Ontario Teachers’ global offices.What you’ll doAnalyze and evaluate potential investment opportunities within healthcare therapeutics (including pharmaceuticals, larger biotechnology companies and adjacent opportunities)Generate practical investment insights from bottom-up research on business models, key value drivers and investment risksDevelop detailed financial models clearly identifying recommended valuation range, critical business drivers, sensitivity analysis etc.Prepare comprehensive investment memos / presentations clearly articulating industry insights, investment thesis and recommendation for the senior leadership teamActively participate in meetings with healthcare company management teams and outside expertsMonitor ongoing financial and operational performance of companies under coverageGenerate bespoke industry analysis in collaboration with the healthcare team.
