Reporting to the Manager, Environment, the Advisor, Environment will collaborate with a range of stakeholders to execute environmental targets and objectives.
This is a full-time permanent hybrid position based out of our Fort Saskatchewan site (minimum 3 days per week onsite).Accountabilities
  • Develop and monitor standards and procedures that ensure compliance with all current environment regulatory reporting, license requirements and the ISO 14001 standard.
  • Maintain and execute an Environment Management System that is consistent with Sherritt’s environmental objectives.
  • Identify, recommend action plans and manage risks related to environmental aspects.
  • Identify, study, and recommend improvement opportunities related to energy and water use, biodiversity, waste, air, water, and soil management.
  • Provide environmental services such as project management; waste characterization; air, soil, and water management; incident reporting and notification; and regulatory reporting.
  • Communication and collaboration across various levels of the organization.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and the site’s Incident Management Team
Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor level degree or college diploma with minimum 5 years of related experience preferred.
  • Experience in energy, mining, or industry is an asset.
  • Broad understanding of environmental processes and regulation required, with preference given to candidates with biodiversity, waste, soil, groundwater, and/or air management experience.
  • Good written and oral communications skills required.
  • Candidates should be flexible and resourceful and have a collaborative mindset.
