This position offers the opportunity to work on a broad range of consulting projects across the Water Market. You will focus on developing business opportunities, building and strengthening our Water business through the delivery of projects, technical leadership, coaching and mentoring our people whilst offering innovative solutions for our internal, existing and new clients across public and private sectors.Reporting to the Regional General Manager, the Regional Market Leader - Water is accountable for organizational management to achieve agreed performance targets relating to growth of the market and ensuring GHD is ahead of client and market trends. In addition to business development relating to Water, promoting growth and sustainable profitability, promote the shared vision of the Strategic Plan, design and execution of a strategy to increase GHD's market share of private and public sector clients across the Water market, technical leadership in projects as required and direction and input on major tenders/bids or proposals.People

  • Actively collaborate within the region and across Canada, as well as with Canada Market Leader and North America Client Relationship Managers to achieve excellent business outcomes
  • Ensure services provided by Project Managers and Service Lines enhance GHD's relationship with clients in Region;
  • Develop, coach and mentor people within the Regional Market Sector, including Client Relationship Managers, Project Directors and Project Managers;.
  • Ensure team has the materials and resources necessary to deliver quality service;
  • Attracts strategic hires for the Market to develop and grow business within the Region.
  • Liaise with the respective Operational leaders and Technical Leaders and interface with the Centers of Excellence.
  • Act as an ambassador to attract and promote career opportunities
Performance
  • Ensure sustainable growth of Regional Market Sector revenue
  • Manage and mitigate risks within the Regional Market
  • Assist and at times lead major projects to ensure delivery outcomes for region
  • Improve tender success rates and Market income
  • Effective management of any designated budgets
  • Technical leadership on projects as required and direction
  • Identifying and winning key clients and establish cost of retention
  • Corporate business development relating to the Market, promoting growth and sustainable profitability
  • Project Director on appropriate projects
  • Actively participates in the integrated approach to market for all GHD services
  • Apply GHD's Management Systems for Safety, Integrity, Quality, and Environment
Business Development & Client Service
  • Develop and implement Regional Market Business Plan;
  • Design and execute a strategy to increase GHDs market share and diversify portfolio of private & public sector clients across the Region;
  • Ensure a coordinated approach to maintaining client management systems, capturing regular contact and meetings with key clients;
  • Promote relationships with existing and potential clients in Region and increase business by improving client relationships and strengthening repeat business;
  • Expand client base by promoting GHD's services proactively
  • Proactively collaborate with other Market Sector Leaders to position and win multidisciplinary projects within the Region;
  • Represents and promotes GHD at networking events, professional and industrial associations, society meetings, and conferences;
  • Input on major tenders/bids and proposals;
  • Identify areas of practice within Region, based on client feedback and market trends that require enhancement to meet present or future opportunities.
  • Contribute to cross-regional efforts to grow GHD's market share in the water sector (municipal / industrial / institutional) through collaboration with Water sector leaders in Canada, the US and abroad for global success in winning and delivering flagship projects
Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
  • University degree in any field relating to role (engineering, environmental, etc)
  • Member of a recognized licence association (P.Eng, Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ), etc)
  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a leader
  • Minimum of 15 years in project management for key projects
  • Established client base in mining and energy and resources related business markets
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, both verbal and written (English/French)
  • Capability to manage priorities and intervene as needed
  • Ability to adapt leadership style according to team composition
  • Good emotional intelligence
  • Expertise to gather, influence and motivate a group of professionals
  • Excellent people management and mentoring skills
  • Team player with leadership skills
  • Analytical mindset with problem solving skills
  • Experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams in the bidding, clarification, negotiation and development of projects
