- Provide structural design of precast structures and elements
- Design of concrete and steel connections
- Manage internal and external drafting requirements
- Review and issue construction drawings
- Assist with the technical support for preconstruction for sales and estimating
- Collaborate with consultants with precast technical information
- Provide necessary plant engineering, including facility additions, plant equipment, lifting and handling devices(Safe Work Loadings), etc.
- Coordinate with project managers, draftsman, quality control personnel, plant production on project details and scheduling.
- Problem solving for issues that arise in the production facility and job sites.
- Maintain calibrations concrete testing of equipment
- Attend client project meetings and provide engineering input
- Conduct plant and site inspections for quality assurances
- Experience in reviewing precast project for value engineering opportunities
- Annual training sessions on basic design concepts envisioned for all customer/consultant-facing technical and sales staff.
- Project specific designs for competitive bid advantages
- Standardize engineering design and manage AutoCAD drawing database for standard and specialty products.
- Assist with technical and operational issues related to product development, production and marketing issues.
- Manage all aspects of the Quality Control Program
- Direct the Quality Control team members
- Interface with other Lafarge Product Lines
- Enforce established policies and regulations related to Quality Control
- Civil and/or Structural Engineering Degree
- Registered or Eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA)
- Eligible or Registered in the provinces of British Columbia and Saskatchewan would be considered an asset
- At least 3 years of Precast Design experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- 3 D Modeling
- Auto cad
- Strong communication skills - verbal and written
- Direct Reports: 2- 3 Employees
