This position is a 40-hour work-week involving various shifts and various off days.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES-Performing diverse and complex vehicle body work in the maintenance, repairing, rebuilding, painting and modification of TTC, rail or rubber-tired vehicles, trucks, cabs, light, heavy, and/or special service vehicles
-Hammering-out dents, filling, filing, grinding, sanding, and glazing
-Preparing and applying primer and finishing paint to dented, welded or pieced areas
-Straightening, bending, realigning and forming body sheathing and framing
-Riveting, welding and brazing joints or breaks
-Removing and installing body parts
-Fabricating or repairing sheet metal parts of equipment, working with plastic body panels, and repairing couplers and related fixtures
-Demonstrates behaviours that support diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work and service environment that is free from discrimination and harassment. Helps to remove barriers and accommdate employees and customers (within their area of responsibility) in accordance with TTC's commitments and obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and Related Orders, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and TTC's policies.SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE-Valid Auto Body and Collision Damage Repair Certificate (310-B), as issued by the Ministry of Colleges & Trades and normally obtained through Grade 12 education; plus the successful completion of the apprenticeship training program or its equivalent
-A valid Province of Ontario class “G” driver's license
-Ability to pass tests set by the Operations Branch which correspond in content to the knowledge, theory and/or practical requirements of the job
-Effective communication and interpersonal skills
-Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with a commitment to safety
-Knowledge of, and experience using, computers in order to input and retrieve vehicle repair and labour reporting information
