The JDMI is committed to ongoing education and quality assurance initiatives and is fully affiliated with the University of Toronto and the Michener Institute of Education.The division of Ultrasound specializes in diagnostic imaging using sound waves, a non-invasive technique that allows us to visualize internal structures of the body such as organs, tissues, and blood flow patterns. As a valued member of TeamJDMI, you will play a key role in providing exceptional diagnostic services and ensuring the highest standards of patient care.Duties
- Performs ultrasound imaging procedures in UHN and Sinai Health main ultrasound departments and/or Emergency Departments, as required
- Operates, troubleshoots and ensures functioning of ultrasound, medical imaging and ancillary equipment
- Prepares written and electronic reports required to document all procedures and test results. Participates in teaching, educational, safety and quality improvement programs/activities
- Performs other related patient care responsibilities to facilitate the provision of optimal patient care
- Certification by Sonography Canada, or equivalent based on grandfathering program at the time of sonography regulation in Ontario
- Current registration with the CMRITO and fulfilling the annual required continuing education as per CMRITO
- Completion of a BCLS program, Level II: Basic Rescuer certification, with maintenance of certification
- Current membership with Sonography Canada, preferred
- Registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB) and Abdomen (AB), preferred
- Ability to demonstrate sensitivity towards patients in a challenging situation
- Demonstrated strong inter-professional and collaborative approach to practice
- Demonstrated good judgement to ensure work is always performed in the best interest and safety of the patient and the team
- Ability to work accurately, safely, and efficiently in a fast paced, high patient volume setting, especially how to accommodate unexpected situations
- Ability to learn new skills, and adapt to process changes
