In addition the Quantity Surveyor will help in the development and management of gravel pit activities and applications. This job is based in Stony Plain and serves North Central Alberta.Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Gathering and tracking quantities on urban and rural paving projects.
  • Surveying using Trimble R8 GPS, builder and laser levels.
  • Processing raw survey data using CAD.
  • Draws up plans for construction, grading, quantity estimates and quantity tracking.
  • Write reports for sand and gravel excavation applications and reclamation certificates.
  • Prepare development permit applications.
  • Work with consultants in the design of sand and gravel operations.
  • Train grades people on construction crews.
Qualifications & Skills:REQUIRED:
  • Should be familiar with AutoCAD and its COGO functions (topographic maps, areas, volumes).
  • Must be a self starter.
  • Should be familiar with surveying techniques and equipment.
  • Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends during the construction season.
  • Must be able to schedule workloads amongst crews effectively.
  • Must have the ability to read and understand construction blueprints.
  • Understand the process of gathering and tracking quantities on urban and rural paving projects.
  • Must possess a Valid Class 5 Drivers License.
PREFERRED:
  • Civil Engineering Technologist diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Familiar with Microsoft office.
  • Familiar with Embedded CAD Microsurvey.
  • Would consider summer student going into 2nd year geomatics or C.E.T. programs.
