ACCOUNTING GENERAL MANAGERJOB SUMMARYReporting to the Director, Finance and Administration, you will manage a team of five (5) peoples, you will ensure that all activities related to general accounting and internal controls are carried out in an adequate and optimal manner according to the policies in effect at the Old Port of Montréal Corporation (OPMC). You will be responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the financial statements of the OPMC and the Science Centre Foundation. You will optimize financial activities and propose improvements to existing systems.   • Responsible for the preparation of month-end, quarterly and year-end financial documents (reporting, package, tax package, etc.);
  • Collaborates in the accounting process: understands and demonstrates how the Company has used the resources entrusted to it, and what they have enabled it to achieve;
  • Ensures that all required information (current and historical data) on the Company's financial and management results is available, understandable and timely;
  • Provides managers with the information they need to support operational decisions in order to contribute to the continuous improvement of the presentation and dissemination of information;
  • Responsible for certain corporate provisions;
  • Supervises and validates the accounting of the various transactions carried out by SVPM;
  • Reviews monthly the explanations of financial variances;
  • Ensures that the accounting process complies with IFRS standards;
  • Responsible for maintaining the chart of accounts and the groupings for presentation purposes;
  • Implements controls over financial systems to produce complete and accurate financial data;
  • Interacts with the various levels of government regarding taxes and accountability as well as with financial institutions as part of its treasury responsibilities;
  • Participates in the development and implementation of performance standards based on benchmarking;
  • Implements and follows up on auditors' recommendations;
  • Participates in the production of the overall budget;
  • Prepares and participates in budget presentations;
  • Develops, recommends, implements and verifies policies, procedures and controls over assets, liabilities, revenues and expenses to ensure their protection and integrity.
  • Human resources management of the employees in the department
Human resources management (25%)
  • Manages, motivates and develops the department's employees: coaching and feedback, recruitment, evaluation, ongoing training;
  • Clearly signals department expectations, provides direction and ensures follow-up.
EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • 10 years of experience in financial management (reporting, analysis, planning and control, budgeting and production of financial statements)
  • 5 years experience in personnel management
  • Experience in review and process improvement
  • Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
  • Computer skills: MS Office (Excel at intermediate/advanced level) and JDE (an asset)
  • Knowledge of English (intermediate level 3)
